States differ in their sales tax rates, tax base, exemptions, and other rules like sourcing your sales and drop shipments. In this session, we look at the differences between sourcing of sales of goods vs. services for purposes of collecting and remitting sales tax. It can be difficult knowing which state gets the tax. There are even local sales tax sourcing rules that need to be considered. We also discuss drop shipments which cause confusion for retailers large and small. Finally, we’ll touch on other special rules such as special rates, partial exemptions, and online marketplace tips.
