Kim’s career includes 20 years of experience in the accounting, document management, workflow, indirect tax, and cloud technology space. She leads a team at Avalara responsible for securing, growing, and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with accounting firms of all sizes - from ProAdvisors to the Big 4 firms. Kim’s contributions to the profession have included co-authoring numerous thought leadership articles for accounting trade publications. She’s also spoken at many national and regional conferences.

Kim has been named four times to Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting list, is a six-time CPA Practice Advisor 40 Under 40 honoree, and has been recognized by CRN as a Woman of the Channel for the past ten years. Kim currently serves as Chair of the Information Technology Alliance (ITA) Board of Directors, and is a member of the UC Santa Barbara PACE Customer Experience Advisory Board. Marianne oversees the accounting strategic alliance partnerships as Senior Strategic Partner Manager – Accounting at Avalara. She brings 14 years of experience and knowledge working with the tax & accounting profession, guiding, and consulting firms as they embrace technology, evaluate internal processes, and expand service lines. 

Before her time at Avalara, Marianne was at CPA.com, where she co-developed and co-facilitated the “Compliance & Advisory: Roadmap to Your Sales and Use Tax Practice Model” workshop, educating accounting firms on the changing sales & use tax landscape, the emerging business opportunity, and how to build the practice. 

Marianne has been a featured speaker at many thought leadership events sharing her passion and extensive knowledge of sales and use tax with the profession.
