Since the start of the new millennium, there were numerous attempts to tackle the problem of financial misstatements and fraud. One of these attempts was the Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOA) in 2002 in the US that increased the auditor's responsibility relating to fraud. Though these attempts were a step in the right direction, even with the current SAS99 and its equivalent CAS240 standards that provide clear guidance and set the expectations of the profession, they haven't stopped financial statement fraud from happening.
The rise of cloud based accounting software and big data, coupled with the tools and practices that are available to the profession (which have not evolved accordingly), makes an auditor's mission only more difficult.
This course provides a refresher on these standards. It also will demonstrate (through a live, real-world use case) how Ai applied to data and analytics can be effective in delivering substantial time saving and advancements in the public accounting profession by reducing analyst fatigue and streamlining data acquisition and analysis process.
